Genus Haplalochlaena: (venomous) Blue Ring Octopi

Hapalochlaena lunulata, the Greater Blue Ring Octopus. Indo-Pacific. To 7 cm. (2.75"). Bali 2014

Genus Octopus

Octopus briareus, Caribbean Reef Octopus. Often pale to bluish overcast. Doesn't have dark edges around suckers like the other common TWA octopode, O. vulgaris. TiffB pic in Curacao 2015

Octopus cyanea, Gray 1929, the Common Reef Octopus. Indo-Pacific; Red Sea to Hawai'i. Common reef species. Has a prominent black spot surrounded by another black ring near base of arm web. N. Sulawesi pic.
