Genus Monanchora
:

Monanchora arbuscula (Duchassaing & Michelotti 1864), the Red Encrusting Sponge. Bright red to pink thin-walled sheets, with darker radiating veins from excurrent siphons Bahamas and Cozumel pix. In older works listed as M. barbadensis. To 10 inches across.

Monanchora unguifera, the Fine Lumpy Sponge. Pink/reddish lumpy 4-16 inch colonies (diameter). Veined canals over cone shaped openings. Bahamas pic.

Genus Mycale:

Mycale fistulifera (Row 1911). Red Sea, Sudan, Indian Ocean. Here in the Red Sea in 2019, infested w/ the hydrozoan Nausithoe punctata.

Mycale laevis, the White or Orange King or Boring Sponge. Bright orange to yellow with white excurrent siphons. Grow under, about a few species of stony corals, actually protecting them from bio-erosion by other/boring sponge species. Bahamas images.

Mycale laxissima. Strawberry Vase Sponge. Bright reds and oranges. Attached to solid substrates.  Bahamas pic.
