Genus Nemastoma:

Nemastoma sp. Class Rhodophyceae, Subclass Florideophycidae, Order Gigartinales, Family Nemastomataceae. Gelatinous beautiful red fluid-filled slippery branches May have lighter colored tips at ends of branches or no. Wakatobi, S. Sulawesi, Indo.

Genus Ochtodes:

Ochtodes secundiramea (Montagne) Howe. A little (4-7 cm.) bright blue/purple algae numerously alternately branched. Each branch uniplanar, but colonies bushy appearing due to overlap. Turbulent areas to 50'. Roatan 2017

Peyssonnelia sp. An encrusting Red. Class Rhodophyceae, Subclass Florideophycidae, Order Gigartinales, Family Peyssonneliaceae. Below, in an aquarium, Cozumel and the Red Sea.

Peyssonniella conchicola, Burgundy Crust Algae. Deep red circular blades that may be upright, shiny. Roatan. 

Peyssonniella inamoena. Matte Red Crust Algae. Mottled red and orange usually. Roughly fan shaped growths. Roatan 2016

Genus Plocamium:

Plocamium, a beautiful non-encrusting red, and a giant sea hare (Aplysia), off San Diego. Used to be made into greeting and post card "forests" ironed onto paper stock.

Genus Poriteria:

Poriteria hortemannii. Common on low intertidal to subtidal Hawaiian reefs. To 12 cm. Widespread in tropical and subtropical Pacific and Indian Oceans. Two-Step, HI pic.

Genus Porolithon:

Porolithon pachydermum, Reef Cement. The actual credit for holding reefs together, cementing sand and living bits together... and holding them there through storms and eons should go to this species. Here in Cozumel.
